The Reviews

The reviews for the Estes Viper RC Airplane with Motion Sensing Control are about the worst that we’ve seen online for any RC product.  According to some of the reviewers the motion control isn’t really motion control at all but rather a system that one sides engine on or off to control the direction but this makes it very difficult to fly.

Some of the reviewers called the Estes Viper a complete waste of money.  The remote is not very responsive and people were appalled that the assembly of this plane actually enrolled taping together pieces of foam with clear plastic tape.

One reviewer probably summed it up best by prefacing their statement with the fact that they’ve been flying RC planes for 40 years and actually worked in the business for a number of years, this person said that “The Estes Viper is absolutely the WORST and most poorly designed model airplane that I have ever held in my hand, bar none”.  OUCH!  You should probably stay away from this one.

One good thing about this plane (other than the fact that it is very inexpensive) is that being so light weight means that you can crash it repeatedly and sustain very little damage.  The problem is that the plane is so hard to control that you will have ample opportunity to test that theory.

There were not many customer reviews online for the  HPI 1/5 Baja 5B 2.0 RTR with 2.4 Radio because, let’s face it, this thing is not cheap so it’s not like there are thousands of people out there racing to the internet to tell everyone what they think of it.

There were a few reviews from people that run websites, blogs, magazines, etc. who put the HPI Baja 5B through its paces and all of the professionals had great things to say and gave this big, bad, buggy a lot of praise.  This thing is big, powerful, durable and fast.

The reviews for the Blade CX2 RTF Electric Coaxial Micro Helicopter are very good.  We found over 60 reviews online for this helicopter and over 90% of the people that left a review gave this bird either 4 or 5 stars out of a possible 5.

Flying RC helicopters is not easy to learn but having two counter rotating propellers makes flying the Blade CX2 much easier.  Many reviewers agree that this helicopter is quite stable and one of the easier ones to fly, making it ideal for someone just getting into flying RC helicopters.

The T Maxx 3.3 may be better suited to someone with a little bit of experience with remote controlled vehicles.  It is very fast and powerful and may be more than a complete novice can handle.  Although the Traxxas T Maxx 3.3 is nearly unbreakable, the type of abuse this truck is likely to endure will mean that some occasional repairs may be needed which is really part of the fun for most people but some previous experience does help.  I don’t want to give anyone the wrong idea though, this truck is very durable and can withstand a lot of abuse but after enough abuse you may have to replace a few stripped gears once in a while.

The price range for the Traxxas T Maxx 3.3 is between $400 and $500 but this is no flimsy little toy.  This is a ferocious beast of an RC truck and should be more than enough to satisfy even the most hard-core RC enthusiasts.

The reviews for the Team Associated Nitro TC3 are very good.  One of the most common comments we found was that people were surprised at how free wheeling a car with a drive shaft could feel versus a belt driven car.  Several people stated that the car is easy to set up and easy to drive.  People also commented that the acceleration and cornering speed is great.
